The 1880 census of Martin Co., Indiana listed Obediah Sharon as a farmer; born in Kentucky.  Both of his parents were born in Kentucky. Obediah could neither read nor write. None of his children attended school.

One account of Obediah’s death from Ona Mae Miller was: Obediah and Nancy Ann lived near Vincennes Indiana along the Wabash River. Because of the size of the Sherron family, Obediah chose not to fight in the Civil War and instead to stay home and help Nancy raise the children. Militia men approached Obediah and an argument started. The militia men took Obediah out and shot both of his knee caps off, and as a result of the shooting, Obediah died of blood poisoning.  Nancy later married Joe Milligan and they migrated to Missouri by covered wagon. The Milligan’s had three children; Otto, Bessie, and Maggie Louisa. Rumor has it that Nancy may be buried in Halltown, Missouri.
